Please ask teachers from visiting schools to register in advance via this page. On this page you can immediately see how many places are still available. It is possible to pay directly when booking or order by invoice.

Skating lesson
Prefer to combine a visit to the rink with lessons from an experienced instructor? This is possible! The cost of an instructor is €80.10 per hour. Per instructor 16 students can participate in a lesson. Is 1 instructor booked and there are more than 16 students present? Then 16 students can participate in the lesson and the remaining students can skate freely. Please contact reserveringen@jaapeden.nl to discuss instructor options.
Please keep in mind that our skating lessons are taught on (combi) skates. Please also indicate this at skate rental when booking an instructor with your visit.
Create Account
It is possible to place the order as a guest, in which case payment must be made immediately. You can also choose to create an account. When choosing a school account, it is possible to order by invoice. Be sure to provide a contact person for this. The account can be created in the last step of the order.
Making changes after booking
It is possible to modify the booking up to 2 business days prior to the visit. This can be done in writing at reserveringen@jaapeden.nl. Please indicate which date and time block it concerns and which change you want to make.
Skate rental
Don't forget to rent skates. This can be done through Waterman Sport, the rental on our property. You can register your group through this page.
Students
Students (own opportunity)Staying relaxed on edge during your student days? Skating at the Jaap Eden rink is the ideal way to stay relaxed through exertion. The entrance fee is €7.80 (excluding skate rental) per student upon presentation of a valid college card. Lessons are available through: The Jaap Eden Skating School or one of the University Sports Centers. The university sports centers USC (UvA/HvA) and SVU (VU), in cooperation with student skating association SKITS, offer an extensive skating program for students led by trainer/instructor Kees de Vrij. Skating for schools
Register your class for this winter's School Skating Program!
It's great that you are interested in coming to the Jaap Eden IJsbaan for school skating! We offer a special program for elementary school students from the Amsterdam area. In this program, students are introduced to skating in a fun, low-threshold way!
- Four 55-minute lessons on a set day and time
- Pupils regular primary and special education grade 3, 4 and/or 5, no 6 (groep 5,6 &7, not 8)
- Includes use of our skates (bringing your own is also possible!)
- Afterwards, children will receive a skating medal
- €5.50 per student for four lessons
- € 21.20 per pupil for four lessons combined with organized bus transportation
- Maximum of 60 students per lesson hour
School skating is focused on fun, encouraging kids to move together and better and introducing kids to all that the sport of skating has to offer.
After registering, you will receive an email confirmation of registration and further instructions, such as dress code, directions for chaperones and procedures on and around the ice, approximately three weeks before the class series begins.
Four series during season 2024-2025
Series 1: week 42 to 46 (excluding wk 44) (Mon Oct. 14 to Fri Nov. 15)
Series 2: week 47 to 50 (Mon Nov. 18 to Fri Dec. 13)
Series 3: week 4 to 7 (Mon Jan. 20 to Feb. 14)
Series 4: week 9 to 12 (Mon Feb. 24 to Mar. 21)
Per series, there is the possibility of the following teaching time blocks:
1: 09:20 - 10:15
2: 10:45 - 11:40
What does the School Skating Package entail?
In the program on ice we try to contribute to the broad motor development of elementary school students. In different forms of play, pupils are introduced to a number of disciplines within the sport of skating.
Why School Skating
The Jaap Eden rink believes it is important to enthuse Amsterdam's youth about the archetypal Dutch sport of skating, which is strongly woven into our culture, while also contributing to motor development and combating exercise poverty.
Who is School Skating for?
School Skating is designed for students in grade 5, 6 and/or 7 from regular elementary and special education. With a maximum of 60 students per class hour.
These students are strong enough in development to get a solid foundation in skating in four weeks. The ability to learn a new sport and its associated movement is great and the approach focused on play and fun ensures that most children will quickly mastered it.

Extracurricular care
Woest Zuid operates a Sports BSO opened at the Jaap Eden rink. Here, children from groups 4 to 8 from various schools in district Oost can go after school. The facility is open after school from Monday to Friday, during vacations and on study days. At the Jaap Eden rink , Woest Zuid uses the new jury tower with its panoramic view of the rink. In the child-friendly group room, the children can eat, drink and play games, table tennis or air field hockey together after school. In winter, of course, they have the opportunity to put on their skates to ride laps on the outdoor rink or in the ice hall. But also in summer there is plenty to experience and discover in the green surroundings. Woest Zuid is distinguished by a daily offer of sports and games. The group leaders have a sports background and they provide a sporty and varied game program. The children are actively invited to participate and to think.
